[2] Malak Ahmed Fathy (Egy) 3-1 [1] Lojayn Yasser Gohary (Egy) 9-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-7
A bit of a surprise as we sort of expected the U13 British Junior Open 2018 semi finalist Lojayn Gohary to take that one. But Malak today was the better player, and her boast in particular did the trick…
Lojayn started well though, 9/5 in the first, only to tin three shots, allowing her opponent to take confidence. And although Lojayn took the game 11/9 in 9m I feel the damage was done.
Malak literally walked away with the second, 4/0, 7/1, 10/4, to take the game in 7m, 11/6. She took the next one a bit less easily, 9m for 11/8. The third was seesaw really up to the middle of the game, 4/4, 6/6, but it was like Malak had all the answers and found some lovely winners at crucial times. From 7/8 to Lojayn, it’s all Malak, 11/7 in 10m game.
