Boys U13 Final

ARDIC Egyptian Junior Open : Boys U13 Final

[2] Ahmed Rashed (Egy) 3-1 [1] Hamdy Ehab Hamdy (Egy)  11-5, 11-6, 5-11, 11-5

Another very intense match between Hamdy Ehab Hamdy, top seed against Ahmed Rashed who I told you yesterday all the good things I thought about him…

Well, he confirmed today he’ll be one to watch, as he managed to beat a very strong Hamdy. Hamdy has got a racquet with a nick magnet, I tell you!!! He can find superb nicks from anywhere in the court, and knows how to open the opportunities as well.

First game, dominated by the Heliopolis boy Ahmed, 7m 11/5. The second shows how strong Hamdy is, and the game becomes very interesting, 3/3, 4/4, 5/5. But at that point, maybe Hamdy had a bit of a loss of energy, and his opponent closes it 11/6, 8m, very few errors, 1 for Ahmed, 2 for Hamdy.

All credit to the top seed, he comes back on court 2/0 down as if it was 0/0 and very positively, imposes his game, sending Ahmed to visit the court, from 5/5, it’s all Hamdy, 11/5 in 5m. 4 unforced errors for Ahmed, 0 for Hamdy.

The fourth is anybody till 4/4, 5/5, but in a reverse situation than in the previous game, it’s Ahmed this time that strings the point, not that Hamdy didn’t try and stopped him though. Some incredible rallies at that point, both of them flying all over the court, attacking, retrieving, beautiful squash.

Ahmed closes it 11/5 in the 4th, and somehow, I feel that Egyptian squash has got some beautiful days ahead….
